Creative Writing 1 emphasizes the knowlege and skills related to the craft of writing. Students will analyze models of effective writing; use a workshop approach to produce a range of original works (short story, drama, and poetry); identify and use techniques required for specialized forms of writing; and identify effective ways to improve the quality of their writing.

This course covers an overview of World Literature from many countries and time periods. It also covers the writing process from pre-writing to editing and revision. Students will be responsible for creating a 5 page research paper in MLA format.

This junior English moodle course fullfills North Pocono's general education requirement. It is comprised of a blend of classic British literature and novels, research, literary analysis, PSSA reading and writing, as well as units of grammar particularly relevant to a more polished writing style.

This course introduces students to American literature and traditions. The course incorporates literature-based writing, vocabulary development and language study through some of the major works in American literature. Students will study the influence of the Puritans and the consequent themes of free will and the American dream. Students will also read some additional works, The Outsiders, To Kill A Mockingbird and Of Mice and Men . The principal works of important American poets are also surveyed.
